Ablakwa for future president triggers exchanges on X
North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been the focus of political discussion on social media site X (previously known as Twitter).
Recently, Ablakwa has received accolades from both sides of the political spectrum for his attempts to raise money to relocate his residents who were impacted by the overflow of two dams in the Volta Region.
An X user suggested that Ablakwa be taken seriously as a potential presidential contender in the future, despite the fact that he is concentrating on the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) effort to reinstate former president John Dramani Mahama.
“Okudzeto Ablakwa has to be considered a serious candidate for president someday. Also, he shouldn’t wait too long to run because the applause may quieten sooner than you’d expect,” the X user by the name of @readjerome stated.
Among other reactions, his belief was that he could make a compelling case for national leadership based on his service to his people.
Some were adamantly against it, saying Ablakwa was just another politician.
In the 2020 general elections, Ablakwa represented Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Mahama’s running mate.
His anti-corruption campaigns and multifaceted support for his constituents have earned him a spot among the most efficient Members of Parliament at the moment.
Check out some reactions below:
If he appears on the presidential ballot paper in 2028, he has my vote.
I witnessed how passionate he is about his constituents when I visited Mepe. I think the presidency needs genuine leaders like him. https://t.co/ettrTz0I84

I think it's more about the mindset of the average Ghanaian. We dey like 'show'. Performative things dey bee like that's why Ken had huge numbers at the primaries and how junior Jesus was admired. Just enter gutter inside plus shovel with camera on you and you're labled 'humbled' https://t.co/47zhiLwf65
