A flurry of A-list (and D-list) celebrities hit New York Fashion Week
Fashion Week’s priorities are deeply skewed. It is about clothes. Artistry, the free market and whatnot. It is also about parties. Peacocking past photographers before shows you’re not even on the list for.
And it is about celebrity.
Were you on the “Real World”? Famous in the ’90s? Perez Hilton? Someone will plant you in the front row, even if it makes you just part of the spectacle.
Promoting a project? An Oscar nominee? Solange or otherwise always turned out? You’ve got even greater access to the cameras — and okay, the clothes — at New York Fashion Week. With the shows at Lincoln Center coming to a close tonight, we look back at celebrities who stepped out this week.
Jared Leto
Actor-turned-rock-star-turned-actor Leto showed his handsome, A-list mug in the front row at Jeremy Scott on Wednesday. The Oscar nominee (for his supporting role in “Dallas Buyers Club”) made it to the East Coast just days after the annual nominee luncheon.
Anna Kendrick
The “Pitch Perfect” starlet worked the presentations like a political candidate, changing her outfits and makeup for every show, party and weird perfume pop-up. Is she a fashion-head, or is she making the preliminary rounds for “Pitch Perfect 2”? We’ll say this: The film was announced a week ago.
Carrie Underwood
The country singer and actress had a perch next to Anna Kendrick (left) at Rebecca Minkoff. And is it just us or does “Girls” star Zosia Mamet, right, also a FW staple, look pained having to sit next to them?
Share this articleShareEven the “30 Rock” star (and everyone’s favorite Golden Globes co-host) got in the act, checking in at Carolina Herrera with a slicked-back ‘do.
Joe Jonas
The only semi-celebrity more ubiquitous at the presentations this week than Anna Kendrick was one-time heartthrob Joe Jonas, who hit Costello Tagliapietra, The Blonds and a handful of other shows with girlfriend Blanda Eggenschwiler. Turns out, he’s covering Fashion Week – turning out columns for New York Magazine, “dancing till dawn, then up at the shows like a bro.” Oops, we should have said “pro.”
Lil’ Kim

The erstwhile rapper is was certainly known for her fashion choices. And this week, the accessory she was flaunting at The Blonds show — overshadowing even the weird sparkly catwoman suit — was a fetus. The ensuing rush to Google just who Lil’ Kim was nearly broke the Internet.
And now, for reference, this is what fashion editors dress like during Fashion Week. Note the simplicity, coupled with just a few cool, but not ostentatious touches at Proenza Schouler on Wednesday, including Grace Coddington’s of-the-moment slip-on sneaks and Hamish Bowles’s coy mint-green socks.
